Washing
Tips
- To help make it a pleasant experience, talk constantly and reassuringly to your pet.
- Brush your dog before bathing. Ensure all mats are removed before getting the coat wet.
- Use tub restraints to prevent your dog from jumping out of the tub.
- You may wish to begin the wash with the head in order to keep the possible fleas on the
body rather than having them seek refuge on the head.
- Apply shampoo. Work it in from the head to the tail. Be sure to get all those nooks and
crannies; like the rectum, between the toes, behind the ears and under the chin.
- Make sure the spray is not too strong. Never spray water directly
onto your dog’s face or genitals with a powerful stream of water.
- Rinse your dog thoroughly with warm water. Shampoo residue can cause skin irritations so make
sure you give your dog’s coat a thorough rinsing.
